This company acts as a third party to file and pay for car registrations on a person's behalf. My elderly mother in-law went online to pay for her car registration. She thought she was on the government website but got confused and went through illinoiscarreg.com instead. She thought everything went through and was okay until she got a letter from the Illinois Secretary of State (SoS) stating that they got a chargeback for the registration payment. We called the SoS to find out what had happened and discovered that the payment was cancelled by llinoisCarReg.com -- OnPoint Processing LLC to the SoS. Essentially, IllinoisCarReg paid the fees with their credit card then chargeback the fees.We checked with her credit institution to verify that nothing went wrong on our end of the payment. When we called IllinoisCarReg.com, we went around in circles. They said they sent it because they have a confirmation number which means NOTHING if they cancel the payment afterwards. They refused to acknowledge that they cancelled the payment to the SoS. We have an official letter from the SoS stating the opposite. In essence, this company stole $201.95 from my mother in-law that they have kept. And it's costing her an additional $158.00 plus a $25.00 penalty because of the payment cancellation.
