Online Travel Agency - Reservation Rebooking Charges Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Fort Lee, NJ, USA

This **** **** all started when I bought my plane tickets through ASAPtickets.com. On June 22, 2022 from Travel agent “Elman”. I bought one round trip ticket for Philippine Airlines economy class for a flight departing on November 8, 2022 returning Nov 28, 2022. For the total amount of $1,589.94 paid in full, which included ticket protection and travel care services. They sent me a booking confirmation ID and flight itinerary and I was good to go. Then 3 weeks before my flight I started to receive emails from ASAP tickets that there were problems with my upcoming flight due to Philippine Airlines changing the flight times so frequently. Elman was no longer accessible or was never in the office. I was transferred to other travel agents and I went back and forth with ASAP tickets everyday for several days, 2 weeks before my flight departure date(11/8/2022). By this time I’m now beside myself with anxiety and stress that ASAP tickets was going to screw up my trip! One week before my flight date i'm now angry and annoyed that they have yet to send me an updated flight itinerary. I tried to call Philippine Airlines directly and they said that based on my ticket number that my flight is in good standing, but they can’t give me an itinerary. Phillipine Airlines said I have to get my itinerary from the third party agency that issued my ticket in the 1st place. So I had to keep calling ASAP tickets to get answers. I spoke/argued with about 10 different ASAP ticket representatives/travel agents trying to get an updated flight itinerary. Eventually I was connected to travel agent “Luis Baker” of Flight assist on November 2, 2022. Luis said they were all affiliated companies, that flight assist was part of ASAP tickets and Luis asked me to confirm my credit card again. The same card I used initially for payment when I bought my tickets on June 22, 2022. So that he can look up and check what w[censored]ding up my new flight itinerary. Luis explained that he can see on his computer that someone in ASAP tickets department had mistakenly canceled my ticket. That this cancelation was why they were having such a hard time confirming my itinerary for my upcoming flight for November 8, 2022. Then Luis said he can reissue my ticket for $794.60. I was upset and I said why do I have to pay anything if it was ASAP tickets mistake! Luis replied that there was an option where i don’t have to pay anything but he will have to transfer me to another department for disputes. Luis then cautioned me that an error dispute process can take days and I won’t be able to fix this on time and I will miss my flight. Then Luis asked me if i paid for ticket protection and i said yes. Luis then said great and there was an easy way to fix this, he explained that if i agree to pay the ticket reissue price of $794.60 he will go ahead and charge my card and he will reissue my ticket and the ticket insurance department can reimburse me later. Luis insisted that this was the fastest way to remedy the situation immediately and i won’t miss my flight. Luis instructed that after I receive my booking confirmation number I can call the ASAP ticket insurance department and they will reimburse my $794.60 because it was their fault that they canceled my ticket in the first place. After I received the Booking confirmation email from Luis Baker, I noticed it was the same exact booking reference number, Booking #: 3WSK5C. The same exact booking/reservation number I was issued on June 22, 2022 from ASAP tickets. Also the same ticket number, #: 0797753737041. So I thought everything was alright now, I won’t miss my flight and i will be refunded by their insurance department for them canceling my ticket resulting in me paying 794.60 to get it reissued… It gets worse… Now that I have been charge for $794.60 on my credit card from TravelJunction.co.Hounslow, TW4 6 United Kingdom On November 2, 2022. As instructed by Luis Baker of Flight Assist - I called ASAP tickets insurance department regarding my refund for their ticket cancelation error. To my shock the ASAP ticket’s agent said they are not in anyway affiliated with flight assist! I said how is this possible they just reissued my ticket and gave me an itinerary that ASAP was stalling on providing. Then ASAP said that what I received from flight Assist was an old flight itinerary and that I have to wait for ASAP to provide my itinerary, no one else can issue my itinerary and that my ticket was never canceled. ASAP said that I have just been scammed and I need to report Flights Assist for fraudulent charges! I called my Bank immediately to report that i’ve been charged $794.60 for a ticket that was never canceled, that I’ve just been scammed. They refunded me a temporary credit on Nov 3, 2022. My bank (citi card) suggested I should call Flight assist maybe it was not a scam and just an error by one of the many representatives. Citi bank said if the merchant Flight Assist can refund me it would be much faster than opening a dispute on their $794.60 charge. I tried to call Flight assist, After taking my $794.60 flight Assist did not answer my calls! The calls would ring on and on and just drop. When I did get in touch with a Flight Assist representative and I explained that I was requesting a refund, my call was dropped. I eventually get transferred around and around and finally to a “supervisor” and they would have me on hold for hours and and hours and when the supervisor said hello, he pretended he couldn’t hear me and hung up! I didn’t even know my phone could stay on hold on a line that long!!! I called my bank and they reassured me that they are aware of the scam and the credit reversal will be in my favor. At this time its already around Nov 6, 2022, Elman finally responds after ghosting me for months with my “New” Flight Itinerary on Nov 7, 2022 one day before my departure! So I went to on my trip to the Phillipines and back here to New Jersey. Everything was fine. Come January 2023 the disputed charge for $794.60 was reversed back to Flight Assist! Citi bank voted in their favor, because the bank said I agreed to let them charge the $794.60! I explained to Citi Bank the whole story all over again. That Flight Assist had conned me, they blatantly lied, that this Luis Baker probably wasn’t even a real person or that wasn’t a real persons name! I explained all over again that Flight Assist said they were affiliated with ASAP. How was I suppose to know they weren’t when they were transferring my calls from one representative/Travel agent to another. Even after reaching out to Flight Assist telling them that ASAP never canceled my flight they can’t reissue a ticket that was never canceled, they sill refused to refund my $794.60. Flight Assist stole my $794.60! Citi bank said it’s unfortunate and its not fair, but it’s not a crime. It’s unethical marketing but it’s not fraud. That because flight assist disputed the charge back they have to go though the motions. Citi bank representatives explained that this is just what the bank has to do, and moving forward I can reopen the dispute and they will continue to help me get my money back. So I reopened the dispute and comb the internet for more evidence against flight assist! I found Google reviews, other reviews on Better Business Bureau and on Trust pilot and I realized I’m not their only victim. How can they charge me $794.60 to reissue a ticket that was never canceled? How is this legal? It’s now February 2023 and I’m still trying to get my 794.60$ back! I think they are all in cahoots with each other. ASAP tickets, Flight Assist, Phillipine Airlines are all part of this giant evil scam. I Filed a complaint on Better Business Bureau and I posted negative reviews where ever I can to shed light to this injustice. I Still call Flight Assist hoping to get my $794.60 back. After posting a negative review on trust pilot. Flight Assist finally contacted me and “escalated” my dispute and they let me speak with “Edward Reed, Senior Supervisor” who had me on hold over an hour and assured me that my refund was being processed. When I asked this Edward Reed for a confirmation email that my refund has been processed the call drops! I call back over and over I spend all day sleep deprived and exhausted but patiently still asking for my refund. I finally get transferred to “ Bugsy” who agreed to send me an email that they will process my refund but with one contingency. Bugsy ask that I cancel my dispute with the bank. Bugsy said he saw that I posted a second dispute and if i withdraw my bank dispute he will then process my refund. He said if they agree to the dispute with the bank it will affect their 4 star rating, but if i withdraw the dispute and they refund me it won’t affect their 4 start rating and that is what they want. I called citi bank and they advised me not to withdraw the dispute because getting me to withdraw the dispute is another scam tactic. That once I withdraw the dispute, the case will be closed and I can’t dispute again. Flight assist can play deaf, drop calls and I can say good bye to my $794.60. So i did not withdraw my dispute. I am now getting several calls from Flight assist and this “Bugsy” who sounds like “Luis Baker” pretending to be “Bugsy” threatening me with scare tactics, saying that if i do not withdraw my bank dispute in 24 hours that they will not process my refund and they will counter the bank dispute like they did the first time and i will loose my $794.60. I am exhausted and they have wasted so much of my time. I don’t understand how this is not a fraud or scam. There has to be repercussion for these people. They are evil thieves. This/These companies need to be exposed as a scam!
