I was looking to purchase a used Onewheel, Pint X on Onewheelstore.com. After check out I received an invoice and a notification that a representative would make contact via phone for credit card information ($550). I called the number provided on the website and it went to a Google Voice voice mail. Then I called the actual Onewheel company, Onewheel.com, Future Motion Inc. and they told me over the phone they do not sell used items, the website I was attempting to purchase from was fake and not affiliated with their company. I have not lost any credit card information or funds, but my address and phone number were compromised.

The website was advertising fairly used onewheels. There were a number of payment methods, me thinking venmo would be a a secure and valid option, i picked that one. I received a text with the Onewheel logo… sounded legit at first. Then they provided me with a venmo account to send it to. Me thinking it was like facebook marketplace where people sell used things i’m think its the person selling their onewheel. Still a little skeptical, i marked the payment as a purchase so i would have protection if anything happens. I sent payment on a Sunday night…. Got a confirmation text a couple hours later. Feeling like it wasnt right, i checked my email first thing in the am, i never got anything from them. So i contact venmo right away and they were absolutely no help. They said I didn’t select purchase protection but should have because venmo should only be used to payment between people who know each other. I told them i believe its fraud and want to report them and stop the payment before it went thru. They said they couldnt do anything and that i need to work it out with the “seller” and this wasnt just a few dollars… $675 is a lot of money for me. So i contacted my bank and they helped stop my venmo payment instead. Now venmo is coming after me for the $675 they paid the fraud site. They never even asked me for any other details like how i was given the information to send money to etc. i kept trying to get a hold of the “onewheel store” but didn’t ever get a response. I will upload all my communications with them.
