Type of a scam Online Purchase
Some things that may have factored into my getting tricked:
- I did not realize the brand name is "On" and "Cloud" is just a type of shoe they make. The official website is actually called "On Running." I am not someone who buys shoes like this very often, so I did not understand the brand lingo, which I think is the major reason I was susceptible to this fraud.
- I prefer to buy directly from the manufacturer and avoid third party sellers. When I saw the official On Running website, I assumed it was a generic third party running gear website (again, my lack of brand knowledge was a factor in that and it sounded generic to me). I skipped over this and went to what I thought was the manufacturer website "oncloudshoes", which ended up being a scam
- This was only the fourth google hit, right behind zappos and amazon, which I think gave it an air of legitimacy.
