I owe eBay $988 because of their scamming [censored]. I’m 24 and really needed a job, how could they be so cruel? I will be sending all emails of the conversation between me and ms.wright to eBay. It saddens me because I thought I was on to something successful. PLEASE DONT [censored] WITH THIS COMPANY!

OLX reached out to me to become a Copy Editor - starting with a "trial period" working with their company. They offer to pay bi-weekly during the "trial period" then presented with the option to be paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. The person who I was contacted goes by the name Jean Rodgers. Jean states that he will be my personal consultant and he is a specialist of the American Agency of the European company OLX. I agreed to the "trial period" due to being jobless and looking for a career change. He started sending internal email correspondence via email for me to correct any grammatical and spelling errors giving only 24 hours to complete each assignment (which is sent daily and sometimes every other day depending on if you complete an assignment on the day of receiving it which is what I did). After each assignment is completed, Jean will inform you of how much you earned so far from each assignment - sometimes stating your current balance and sometimes stating your current savings. Some assignments were worth $40, $35, $25, and even $45. After completing 5 assignments over the course of two weeks I "earned" $180 which was to be paid to me via PayPal on March 22nd, 2022. I received another email from Jean stating to keep in touch - he would contact me later with an important offer. At this point, all communications with OLX were through Jean Rodgers via email. Since OLX is a European company and I am living in the United States, I could not find a working number to contact the company directly outside of communicating with Jean. The website provided was in a foreign language selling items similar to eBay's style of selling and buying. Due to editing their email correspondence for two weeks, I've learned that the company deals a lot with cryptocurrency Bitcoin and interacts frequently with buyers and the seller(s) they employ. I received this email early next morning from Jean stating that the position of document editor (mind you I was a copy editor) will be temporarily suspended. I will still receive payment for the work I've completed during my trial period. They are "changing" the way they will be doing business in order to improve. Jean then followed by offering me a new position to become an eBay Seller for their company earning a fixed salary of $1,500 per month plus 5% commission from each sale. Further stating that most of their sellers earn on average between $5,000 to $7,000 per month. I would have to basically accept the offer or be out of a job again. Still needing an income to help with my fast-approaching upcoming rent and a job, I accepted the offer on March 18th, 2022. I was then instructed to send an email to a person named Christina Wright at christina wright 6 4 0 2 at gmail . com. I reached out to Christina and was sent rules to the new position as an eBay Seller. I confirmed receipt of the rules and was then provided with more information stating that I would now be receiving payment for the work I previously completed as a Copy Editor when I received my first payment as an eBay Seller which requires me to wait several days after account activation. Then an additional 30 days after account activation. When I inquired about receiving my payment on March 22nd, 2022 for the work I previously completed as agreed upon instead of waiting so long, all communication ceased from Christina and even from Jean. I sent follow-up emails to both Christina and Jean and received no explanation or response back. When March 22nd, 2022 arrived, I did not receive any money for the work I've done for OLX, and Christina and Jean failed to return my numerous email correspondences. Basically, this company has you working for free with the promise of being paid for the work you've done and then not being paid for the work you've done and being ghosted. If anyone receives an email from OLX stating they would like to offer you a job as a Copy Editor or even eBay Seller, please disregard their email. You will be wasting your time and be embarrassed to tell your family what happened and why you can't afford rent on time this month.

Me too! How it happened to you is how it happened to me! I was a copy editor at first too!

I had the exact same experience with “OLX Poland”. starting with copy editor, supposed to be paid $180, never got paid, and then offered a job as eBay seller by Christina Wright. First of all I found it very suspicious that a company would be using personal email addresses to communicate, but I decided to accept the eBay seller job offer because I needed the money. So from March 9, 2022 to the first week of April, they had me set up an eBay account, they would tell me to list 3 flashdrives on eBay, then they’d send me bitcoin to buy the flashdrives on Amazon and send them to the eBay buyers. I would receive calls from a man in broken English bossing me around and being very unprofessional. When I inquired further about when I’d be paid, they told me these flashdrive sales were only for collecting feedback to make my account look more trustworthy so I can start “expensive sales”. I also saw multiple other new eBay users were doing the exact same thing. I was suspicious with all these little things that weren’t adding up, but then they told me they were ready to start expensive sales and I would start getting paid. So they send me the details of a very rare and valuable comic book, with very old photos and little information. I listed it, and bids came in worth thousands. On the day the bidding was to end, the “OLX” employee who had been using my account contacted multiple people asking them to pay via PayPal. This is when I realized this was a massive scam and I could be in serious legal trouble because this shared ebay account was connected to my address, bank, phone etc. “OLX” wanted them to pay via paypal instead of ebay because ebay has a money back guarantee for fraud. I immediately cancelled the listing and shut down the paypal and requested the ebay be shut down for fraud. I don’t know how I let it go on that long with all these suspicious things going on, I guess I just was able to brush it off for the possibility of $1500 a month for something so easy. Goes without saying I feel very stupid and almost assisted in scamming these people thousands of dollars (last bids were $10k+). Can’t believe how advanced and complicated this scam is.

I applied for a job on Indeed for a Freelance Copy Editor on approximately February 27, 2022. On February 28, 2022, I received an email from Olga Gogina claiming she was my personal consultant for the American agency of the European company OLX. She offered me the job and I started working on March 1, 2022. I was told I would be paid for my work via PayPal on March 15, 2022. I never received payment for my work. After working for Olga for one week, I received an email on March 7, 2022 that said my position had been suspended. I was then offered a job as an eBay seller. I declined the offer and never heard from Olga again.
