Family was in the process of moving across the company. Thought we found a rental by a person we could trust. Started with Facebook messenger and then moved to text and even spoke over the phone. Emailed rental application tried to keep to a minimum on personal info. Ended up sending a security deposit first through Venmo. Everything was going well they were going to send us the key but wanted first months rent. When I should any hesitancy or skepticism they would get aggressive or have to call and talk to me on the phone and tell me how much time they spent on it. Being stressed about moving they took advantage of the situation. Said they would mail the key but had to send them first months rent. They would send me a rent receipt every time I made a Venmo payment. When I realized what happened contacted Venmo where they did nothing to help me in the situation and put all the blame on me. They didn’t even prevent the Venmo account from scamming another person a week later for the same thing.
