I was contacted yesterday 02/09/2016, by two different phone numbers (people), asking me to pay a debt that I supposedly incurred back in August 2014. Both people say that I requested a payday loan online for the amount of $255.00 and when it was time for payment, the payment was returned or my account was no longer open. This of course is not true. These people now want me to settle this debt by paying lots of interest (a very high amount). One scammer wanted me to pay $1,700.00 and the other wanted $650.00. They mentioned my account with the current bank that I bank with, my place of employment and my address. They also said that they had done a background check on me and were pleased to say that I have no prior convictions or felonies on my record. But they also said that if I did not pay by yesterday afternoon (by 5:30 p.m.), the State was going to process a lawsuit against me and that this would have to be settled in court, in which the judge could find me guilty and I could end up having a felony on my record and that I could also end up in jail. I am very confused and very scared just by hearing the words jail and felony. Please help me?? I do not have money to higher a lawyer, I don't want any problems with the law, but I feel that perhaps my identity has been stolen. Don't know what to do....
