I was looking to purchase a truck through offer up preferably a ford ranger the ad i ran across on offer up was for a 2004 ranger xlt the lady who supposely was selling the vehicle was a Natalya Cordona Ramos she said she was in the air force stationed out of utah and was to be deployed soon and wanted to sell the truck because she did'nt want to store it. After a couple of days she emailed me again for my name and address because she was shipping through ebay motors and needed that info, I replied with the info she wanted and she sent me an shipping invoice supposely from ebay motors and requested payment from ebay gift cards which raised a red flag for me and plus I have an ebay account and I did not see any orders for a ranger on my account. I went back on offer up and seen the same vehicle from the same seller but this time it was in Mokena, IL.

A lady contacted me through offerup about a tv stand she was interested in and asked me to email photos to her husband who was out of town. I did and he said he would send me a check for $100. Today I received a check for $2381.24 and an email stating his assistant made a mistake was made in the amount sent to me. He wanted me to just go ahead and cash it and contact him once I had a deposit slip. I sent him a reply that I would not cash the check.

We live in Dallas Texas. This person by the name of Ricardo Martinez listed a nice F250 Diesel white pickup truck on Offerup. We texted back and forth everything looked good. My husband, son and his friend drove to San Antonio to get it. They got there the individual came out the apartment complex (Acting like he lived there) the address he gave us is linked to a McDonalds but he said that it happened often were he gave "his address" and it direct people to McDonalds instead of his apartment complex. My husband test drove the vehicle, signed papers, got the title, paid the individual cash (as the individual stated he didn't have a bank account to cash a check) and drove back to Dallas, happy and exited. The individual gave my husband a bill of sale and a legit title for the vehicle so my husband thought everything was fine. When we tried to change the tile under my husband's name the next day. We discovered the pickup was stolen from a dealer located in San Antonio. We called the police right away and the vehicle was impounded. My husband is heart broken and so am I and my kids. He worked very hard for that money and now we are out of the money and the vehicle. How did he get the key to the vehicle and the title is a puzzle to us. Please don't pay cash to anyone. Pay with a check or a cashiers check and take a picture of the individual's ID. The best way to not get scam is meet the seller at the title company to change the car under your name right there and there. If the individual refuses to meet then is a scam.
