My spouse got an email for employment with Odyssey Group limited (They changed their name). Thanks to a family friend we learned that the job was a scam to make you return the laptop you bought for "work".

POSITION: ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE/ASSISTANT. (Remote)!

Job Summary
We are looking for a diligent Administrative Executive Assistant to join our Administrative department. You should be able to accurately provide general administrative support, typically to managers and other department staff. Administrative functions may include maintaining calendars, handling correspondence, distributing mail, filing, and performing other duties to support the manager and department staff as needed. Utilizes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various software applications to perform tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Compile basic reports or presentations with information from established sources as directed.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence with a moderate degree of guidance.
- Perform data input and prepare forms in support of the department using current technology.
- Prepare and sort documents for data entry, verify data, and prepare materials for printing.
- Draft and type routine letters and memos from specific instructions.
- Assemble and compile basic data for reports or presentations from established sources as directed.
- Work with Company applications to perform tasks to support office/department.
- Create and maintain logs for tracking purposes.
- Provide assistance and support to company personnel.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

BRIEFING SUMMARY.
You will be enrolled for 2 weeks training program. Find Training program details below:

*-You will have to be online from 8 AM to 11 AM daily for a training program as you will be given a series of tasks during training.*You will resume work fully after training and your working hours will be 8 AM - 4 PM your time zone.
*-You will be paid $40./hr and for 8 hrs a day as long as you are online during the stated hours {Monitored}.
*-You have to keep a strict record of time and activities. A timesheet should be sent in every Friday for monitoring.
*-In carrying out any assignment or task a progress report has to be emailed to the department.
*-You are paid weekly.
*-The training would be administered online, this is an internet-based position, and the base pay is $25 per hour During the two weeks of training and $40 per hour after training.
*-Either party is free to terminate at any time with proper notice.
*-Benefits, health and dental paid vacation, and 1-week sick leave. You will be enrolled for these benefits after 3months.

Received text message and several emails for Administrative assistant position. Like the people I set up interview with Jatin Haryani, did the interview, had an email sent to with documents of offer letter and W4 tax form. I actually went and printed them out and filled them out scanned them and upload the letter and W4 tax form. Just like the gentleman I was told that a check was being mailed to me for the purchase of the computer,printer and software. So the check arrived, me being me verified the check to see if the funds where actually in the account it was drawn off. The funds where there so I deposited thinking yay ok I'm about to order the equipment for the position. No soon as the check post to my account Jatin Haryani had me withdraw $1000 and send it to a Rolanda Maddox via Elle and another $1000 to Richiyo dickson, they where suppose to be the vendors that order everything. But for two days I had to send $1000 to each one. Now account is overdrawn ooh by $4850.00. I gotta in contact with Mr Jatin Haryani about the situation, he said he would fix it and he was on a zoom meeting call with accounting dept to trying to figure out how to fix my issue with the negative balance.

Your resume published online has been reviewed and you have made it to the NEXT STEP for the job opening. Your resume was shortlisted for an online interview with the Compliance Officer Mr. Jatin Haryani

The name of the Company is Odyssey Capital Group. The position available is Administrative Assistant and this is strictly an online and work from home job, you can as well work from anywhere of your choice or anytime that does suit you. You can choose to work during Morning, Afternoon and even during Evening...The payrate is $35 per hour.

Primary Duties: Your Primary duties include: Preparation of Balance sheets (Mini), account balancing, invoicing recording, proper data analysis of sales records and recording pay slips into accounting database all these will be done through the use of the Accounting Software.

Secondary duties: Now, your secondary daily duties would be to report to your Supervisor, who would be attached to you online, He/She would assign logs of duty daily and you would be required to work according to instructions, using the Microsoft Office tools and the Accounting software. Now the function of the Accounting software is to arrange, formalize and manage the data you have processed, sent to your supervisor via E-mail.

As soon as the check for your materials has been issued out to you i will notify you and provide you with the tracking number so you can keep track of it and know when it gets to you.

Also your working materials has to come along with the company's official logo on it and The software vendor will be responsible for installing the software updates and patches. They will also need to perform manual data backups and secure the data to meet specific standards..

You will be provided with the means of purchasing the Software programs as stated earlier.

You will receive a paycheck for the purchase of your working materials, the company's accounting dept will issue the check and will have it sent to the address you have just provided through FedEx or USPS so I suppose the name you provided to me is the same on your bank info ?

Depositing the check will be a task assigned to you by the accounting dept. The check is needed to be deposited for clearance as is not designed for instant cash out.

As soon as the check delivers, you are required to have it deposited in to your bank account and after deposit, the funds will be credited and available in your account for cash out immediately or the next day morning.

I had to check and see if this was a scam; it's really hard to look for jobs online... and it takes so much time doing research..

The company called Odyssey Capital Group, claims to be world wide and wanted to start a branch in Minnesota. They did a strange interview with me through Google Hangouts. They sent me a check even thought I didn't fill out paperwork confirming that I was hired by them.

They sent the check in order for me to purchase a laptop, printer, and software for their company. They wanted me to deposit the check into my personal bank account and send proof that it was deposited.

I contacted the police when I saw the check and they informed me to destroy the check and block the email, hangout, and phone number. Now I'm informing you to let others know.

I received an unsolicited email from someone who claimed to work for the Odyssey Capital Group stating my resume was approved for a job opening. It asked for me to contact a Jatin Haryani through either Skype of Google Hangouts for a job interview and they provided a verification code, which by the way was never requested. I set up an interview through Hangouts and the interview commenced immediately. Took about an hour and they came back within about 5 minutes that the human resources department approved my interview and I was hired!

They told me they would send me a check for home office equipment to include a laptop, printer, and software from an approved vendor. Next day I received the check and they asked me to deposit it and once I did to let them know when the funds are available and they would then give me further instructions. I started to get suspicious as it was a very large amount. I started looking at the email addresses that they were communicating from and they were huge red flags.

My offer letter came from a gmail account and the email domain from the person I was communicating with during the entire interview process had a flaw. The dash in their domain was in the wrong location. Correct domain: @odysseycapital-group.com Interviewer domain: @odyssey-capitalgroup.com I looked up the companies personnel list and a Jatin Haryani but I'm pretty sure I wasn't communicating with him. When I notified "Jatin" I was not going to deposit the check he got very pushy with me stating that the company already funded the check and I had to cash it. That I had nothing to worry about. That there was also a sign on bonus in there for me, which was never even discussed to begin with.

Once I told them again I would not be depositing the check he left the chat. The email used in Hangouts was [email protected]. The email address from original email where they reached out to me was [email protected] and [email protected]. The email that I received the Offer Letter from was [email protected].
