I received a contact us submission through our website on May 16 from an individual named Jason Oscar inquiring about our carpet cleaning services. He said he has had been away from his home for the past seven months on a work project and he and his wife would be returning to their home on July 30 and would like the carpets cleaned on July 26. He stated his shipping agents would also be there that day and would give us access to the home. He included the square feet of the rooms and asked how much it would be as the only way he could make payment was a certified check sent to us by his financial officer. He also stated it was important that we deposit the check as soon as it was received so the funds would process, be available and fully cleared prior us to completing the work. On May 24 we received another email from him stating the check had been sent, but "by mistake" included the money for the movers in my check. He instructed me to deposit the check anyway and after deducting the carpet cleaning fee and any associated taxes and he would email me the details for the rest of the funds to be sent after the check clears. On June 7, a check was received, sent via priority mail. The check I received was in the amount of $2,975.25 (we quoted $300 for the carpet cleaning) from the account HP Texas| LLC, 180 N Stetson Ave, Suite 3650, Chicago, IL 60601 . The return address is PCML Irvine CA ,19 Morgan, Irvine CA 92618. Check # 4789. Signature Bank, 200 Park Avenue South, NewYork NY, 10003. He then wanted me to text him when the check arrived. I emailed him that I received it and he wanted me to go to the bank immediately and cash it so we would have the cash to give the movers (this is June 7 and the job wasn't scheduled until July 26). After ignoring his email he called our office and spoke with the owner who informed him that we would not be able to cash it as, being a business, we cannot cash checks, only deposit them. He seemed quite frustrated with that response and we have not hear from him since.
