O Canada Movers Reports & Reviews (5)

Stay away from these people, they held my belongings on their truck for Ransom!
They quoted me a price of $2,500 to move from Brighton to Toronto, arrived in Toronto and demanded $8,000 plus to be paid before they deliver my stuff. After a long negotiation and inconvenience, we were forced to pay $5,000 to get our home back.
Then too we had boxes missing and destroyed items..
We feel sick from this experience and don’t want anything to do with them.
They are not trust worthy and need to be punished by the law for this method of doing business especially to seniors. I I am a senior, handicapped client, just imagine how
heartless and disgusting they are. Their quotes don’t mean a thing, their business plan is to get your belongings on the truck, hold it hostage till you come up with the Ransom Amount- I believe this is criminal and deserves to be punished! Stay away from this company-this is truly—
Highway Robbery!
Ursula-another duped customer.

Do not trust this company, their words or written quotes. They packed my home into the truck, went to the destination and held my stuff RANSOME for three times the quoted price. Having no choice, since all we own was on the truck, and having to sleep two nights on the floor at the new place without our belongings agreed to pay twice the quoted price to get our truck load of our belongings back.
Since our stuff was off loaded into their warehouse, it was reloaded by a different trucking company to be delivered after we paid the RANSOM.
We lost a few boxes containing our hard-earned items.
A piece of our furniture-GONE!
and damages to what was delivered. We were totally sick with the experience with this company. . Somewhere between Brighton, ON and Toronto, things ‘fell off the truck” Please don’t be fooled by this company, they have no honesty, no scruples, no respect for older handicapped people. All they care about is $$$. They should be put out off business and punished for what they do to clients who trusted them with their home.
Take my advice and stay away from these ‘Wolves in Sheep’s
clothing’, I wish there was a charge I could bring against them for treating a senior, handicap , visually challenged person-like me!
Run-Run as fast and far away from this company as you can, they only bring headaches, heartache for items lost or stolen and aggravation for dealing with them after you pay the RANSOM.
They give movers a bad name!

Broken contract: property held ransom until over double was paid.

This is a warning to steer clear of O Canada Movers as they are not a trustworthy company. Do not trust O Canada Movers. I am diligent with quotes, accurate information, and respectful communication, so I do not say this lightly, but you need to know that O Canada Movers play an unethical game.

Despite multiple emails assuring me that other negative reviews were spam and clear information that I would only be charged what was quoted in the email, I was charged over double as a ransom.

On September 28, 2021, I was quoted $400 in total for my 500lb move, and was assured this would be the total "all in" cost. I also sent the online listing of the 2 appliances and received a response that I would be charged as promised.

I paid the $200 deposit with multiple email confirmations that the total would be $400.

On delivery day, I was asked for an additional $859.65 (for a total of $1069.65) for a 100lb move minimum. I talked to customer service and they informed me that management did not care about the email confirmation and that my property would not be delivered AND that I was still being charged additional costing during the time I was advocating for what I was promised.

Customer service finally got management to agree to honour the 500lb minimum, but not the $400 total I was promised - so they charged an additional $786.20 ransom, making the total $986.20 or over double what I had been quoted and what was confirmed over multiple emails.

I submitted a claim form (as requested by customer service) to have my file reviewed. This was submitted on October 8, 2021 with a request for response by October 15, 2021. It is now over a month later (November 14, 2021) and, despite multiple reminder emails and calls for an update on the review, O Canada Movers have not responded.

This is a clear indication that they do not care about their customer or their promises.

STAY AWAY!
STAY AWAY!
This company is a scam!
It all started with a great price over the phone. Approximately 3000, which was a very attractive price for our move. So my wife paid the 200 deposit to book this company. Also it should be noted this company scam is also involved with "O Canada Movers and Move me again. All these companies are the same! They get sued and then pop up under another name. Do your homework and do not go through what we went through!
The appointment for them to pick up our stuff was for 2pm.
We got a call at 1 pm saying they are running late and will not be there until 5 pm.

Another call just before 5 saying they will be there by 7 pm.

They showed up at 930 pm! This was our second mistake! (First one was actually putting a deposit down with this company) There were 3 guys that showed up in an unmarked truck...two guys could speak a little broken English, one could speak zero English. They proceeded to load all our stuff onto this truck while drinking beer, wearing no masks! The truck was loaded by 1230 am! yes, 1230 AM!
Thus is when our third mistake came in! THE CONTRACT! The contract was briefly explained to us on the tailgate of the truck at 1230 am in the morning. They proceeded to say our "weight" was heavier then originally quoted for and there would be an additional fee (but they won't tell you what that fee actually is) they say the accounting department will be in touch! Away they went. we had no idea where our stuff went to, all we got in broken English was "Toronto". Do Not Sign the contract, tell them to unload your property immediately. If they leave with your stuff and no contract it is theft. Call the police! The second you sign that contract it becomes a civil matter and the police won't become involved.

A few days later the "accounting department" actually called us and said we owe over $6000.00 , payment needs to be paid in full prior to our property being dispatched for delivery. Fees such as going up 2 stairs, 30 dollars for plastic to wrap a mattress or box spring, extra weight , extra 800 dollars for storage fees and on and on. Total scam. But they have our stuff, they will not tell you where it is and they are very ignorant when you question them on their ethics!
So... we need our stuff and decided we would pay them or they will hold your property hostage and charge you yet again additional fees. So we paid in full so we could receive our property. A week goes by, another week and another week. 1 month after they picked up our stuff it eventually arrived at our new home. Numerous calls to "Maya" was one lie after another. We have 8 recordings of Maya lying in each and everyone of the calls! "Maya" is in sales and sounds convincing and sincere! don't fall for it, she does not know how to tell the truth and is into this "scam" as much as the animals that will show up to your house.

Speaking of that, a month after our property was taken by these crooks, we get a call from Sam , 830 at night, stating our property will be at our new house by 7am the following morning! Perfect, we are finally going to have our beds , dishes and other things you need to live. "Sam" shows up late of course with one other guy, both look like they slept in a ditch for the night. Do not the website fool you, these people do not wear uniforms and they are the farthest thing from professional movers. Guess what one of the first things "Sam" says to us. If we want the property brought into the house then we will need to pay an additional 150 dollars, cash or etransfer. I told "Sam" he is not getting another dime from us, in fact I don't want you in our new home, so they dropped our property at the end of the driveway! My wife and I took it from there and actually did it faster and more efficient then these pathetic [censored]s!
So at the end, guess what, another contract to sign saying we received our property. I told "Sam" that I am not signing anything on the advice from our civil lawyer. Sam politely told me to F off, snatched the contract from my hand and waddled back to the truck.

These people will go bankrupt and jump up under another name. If you are moving do you homework folks, so you don't go through what we did. Looking back, we have made alot of mistakes trusting these animals. It will never happen again with anyone we know. I hope this helps all the other innocent trusting people out there to make an informed decision before hiring MOVE ME AGAIN, SAFE BOUND MOVING and or O Canada movers. There are other companies affiliated as well.

We contracted O Canada Movers to complete our move on June 30, 2021. This is the first time we have used movers so we had no idea of the level of fraud in this industry. The movers who came on July 1st after being cancelled one day before we from Move Me Again.

They have everything we own and it didn't occur to me that I didn't see an address listed. I want my belongings returned and will be more than willing to pick it up at their warehouse. There is nothing worse than a thief and life is a circle so what goes around comes around.
