I received a text from someone identifying themselves as Janiece Rendon with Novici Biotech and was invited to apply for a $27/hour data entry clerk position with. They asked me to email my resume if interested and, after doing a quick Google search, it appeared to be an actual company. I sent my resume and was emailed back with a very vague description of the job along with benefits that seemed too good to be true and was asked if it seemed "up my alley". I responded back that I was interested and they sent me a 10-question "test" with poor capitalization and grammar that made me think twice about them, along with an "employee application form" in which they asked my name, if I was currently employed, and what bank I use (apparently so they can see if my bank "aligns with their company payroll standard"). I fill out that information and am sent an offer letter the next day. In the email, they say they've fast tracked the hiring because of the upcoming holidays and they need extra help ASAP. They also say that I will need to complete an identity verification and will be sent a check to reimburse me for my at-home workspace "because all of their admins are working from home and can't purchase the equipment for me". That's when the final red flag raised for me. Not to mention the fact that I've never even spoken to someone at the "company" before, let alone have absolutely zero data entry experience. I looked up 'Novici' on this scam site, but nothing came up. I then tried 'biotech', and saw someone with the SAME EXACT situation, right down to the phone number of the scammer. Beware of this happening to you! I considered quitting my current job for this position but was, thankfully, aware of the signs.
