I'm grateful for Reddit and r/jobs for the information that this is in fact a scam where they will likely hire you and send a check for you to deposit in your account, then send to a third party vendor to "purchase your equipment."
No legitimate company would do that, they either supply the equipment or require that you have your own.

I went to the App Store to download the Signal app and realized the app is a private messenger app that allows the messages to disappear. What company uses this for virtual interviews when most of them use Microsoft Teams or Zoom? I did research and came across another. Y’all be safe out there
