They texted me about a job I supposedly applied for, I have submitted a lot job applications so I didn’t think nothing of, but I was wondering why they reached out through a text message. He if your interested reply back yes to proceed with a job interview via Teams. Then the asked me if I had Skype or Microsoft Teams I replied back teams, then he asked me for my email address and sent me a link to log into teams and immediately I was connected to a James Lakes, he asked me a series of questions regarding my work and experience. Then he said stand by while forwards the info to his supervisor and then he said we like your answers and want to offer you the Data Entry job working remotely for $29.50 hour. Then he said we are going to email you a check to get the office equipment and software for the Laptop and they were going to send me to third party vendor so I could get laptop and software installed on it. So they emailed a check for $2451.29, it Bank of America on it so I thought it was legit until the funds never became available for me to use (which as a good thing). He would communicate thru Teams, and then asked me to send him picture of my checking account to see if the funds are available, so it showed that the check was deposited but the funds never became available so I called my bank and they said it was on their end they released the funds for use and then at that point I told them to cancel it or send the check back because I think it’s a scam, because guy asked me if I was familiar with sending money through Zelle, and now I’m like why do I have to do that when I can go this vendor myself?? So at this point I told him he should be ashamed of himself scamming hard working people, and the I blocked him on Teams and deleted the app, but they have my personal information because I filled outa W4 tax form, which also made think it was legit because they sent me an offer letter as well.
