Received this in the mail (USPS) and it’s obviously a scam.

I received a phone call and a recorded message said that my Social Security benefits were being cancelled & I was in jeopardy of going to prison- then it prompted me to press 1 on the phone keypad to speak to a rep. I hung up. Older folks may be very distressed at this type thing, especially those with memory or dementia problems, & no one to ask about it. Please look into this if you can find out who this is.

Thank You

I'm not sure if this was a scam but I researched a situation similar to mine from people in different states and I can confirmed they were scammed out of money. This scam is the Postcard Walmart/Target unclaimed $100 dollars. You can Google it. I should have reported earlier but the reason I didn't because they haven't did anything yet I am still looking out for any unauthorized charges in my bank account. I gave the my personal information, which I shouldn't have so I hope they don't commit identity theft. So if someone is reading this watch out for those post cards in the mail, it could most likely be a scam.

I am an international student. I have been receiving many student loan scams. My husband is helping fill out these reports. The scammers call me in person, and also leaves messages on my phone. I do not owe any student loans, since I pay my funds completely during the school year. So I know that these are real scammers. They are sometimes aggressive, and some sound professional. The lady says she works in student loans and she have important information about the updates. So this is phishing for my personal information/finances. The voice was the from the same woman, but she goes by different names. She says the same thing. There is an update to your student loans, please have your reference number ready... I have collected a few of the many time she called. The numbers are always changing.

I've received very similar emails in the past and ultimately they propose that they add $ to my credit account on a "temporary" basis and when I won't agree, they disappear.

Here is what I've been sent to far:

Someone contacted an employee by e-mail on her company computer. They asked her to purchase Google Play Cards on her personal credit card on behalf of the CEO. Requestor said cards were going to be given to our hospice patients. She was to purchase cards with her personal credit card. Cards were purchased by employee $100. x 12 = $1200. Then the employee was instructed to scratch off the back code and email a clear picture of the codes to the requestor. The employee did as instructed. This all took place on Friday 7/6/18. Receipts from this transaction were placed on my desk for reimbursement to the employee. I was out until Monday.

"Stephanie" (no last name or company given) called and left a message that she needed to "review our reverse mortgage." We do not have a reverse mortgage. I called to be taken off their call list, and she asked for my last name, which I didn't give (but which she could easily procure, since she had called me)

I suspect this is a scam. I called the local police (*** County State Trooper) and they said they'd been getting other calls about this.

- Lexington, KY, USA

these people are relentless they call twice a day even though I am on the dnc registry they use rollover numbers the one time that I did answer a prerecorded voice asked me if I could hear her and like an [censored] I said yes,I see that I messed up and hope it doesn't cost me too much!these people are insidious and relentless I hope someone shuts them down

- Madison, WI, USA

I received a call from an unknown caller asking to verify my name. When they asked if they had the correct person I said "yes" and the caller hung up.

- Memphis, TN, USA

The scammer was attempting to get a simple yes-no answer to one question survey. I hung up (I believe) before I said anything other than hello.

The area code appears to be in Pennsylvania.
