They would contact you through email and ask you to download an app called signal where they would do the bulk of their communications. They would conduct the entire interview and even send w4 forms and everything when they hire you. Then they will say they will mail a check so you can buy equipment for your home office, then later state they will email a check for mobile deposit.

The individuals placed an employer ad on Indeed.com recruiting for a position with their company. I was instructed to make contact with the Hiring Manager through the use of Signal Messenger App. download onto my phone. Through my communication I was given questions, a load download of things I will do and what was needed for my daily activity. Then I was told that a check will be sent to me to meet the equipment and software I was to get with it. I did get what was a check for $6600. They didn't request any of the expected information from me to get checked on me. That gave me some red flags of fraud activity. No background check. No I9 form process. No drug test results.

Only chose the other category for this due to the fact that this scam covers both the fact that it's a fake job offer but also because it is pretending to be an actual valid company at the same time. Found a job offer on indeed that was originally offering like anywhere from $20-$25 for a remote data entry position and as part of me mass applying, they responded after about 2 days. Initially I followed along for the most part since it seemed promising and great but after speaking to an "HR Manager" and having him over the course of two days talk to me I gathered enough information to realize this was a scam. Aside from having me download a private messaging app named Signal to get in contact with the make pretend dude named Jason Scott, after listening to a few spiels they sent me a list of equipment I would need to buy but said that they would mail in a check for $8000 to buy and set up a mini office for myself. I searched around online and found out other scam job postings are using the exact same list of hardware and software to buy for the mini office. For those looking at this the list is like a bunch of Apple branded stuff specifically and then a list of like software programs for accounting like Xero, Sage, AccuMial Frameworks, Data-scan by Neoptec and more. They already decided to send me a check in the mail so I'm definitely gonna check with its home bank to watch it bounce

Email initially thanking you for your application is sent followed by a second saying they want to conduct an interview via 3rd party app (Signal, telegram, etc). Questions come in quickly and responses / language is awkward and messy. They hire you immediately and say you need to buy equipment and they will send you money for it etc. Person I dealt with went by April Weyh by signal but Heather Jourdan by email.
