I was sent a fake invoice for $499.00 for automatic renewal of Norton 360 standarad support. I never had Norton support.

I am assurming they want you to call the number on the invoice to cancel, so they can ask for all your credit card/banking information to verify your account.

11/3/21 Received an email sending receipt for payment for Norton Anti-virus software. The email was a receipt for renewal of this software. I do not have and have not used Norton Software on my computer. I am being billed $499.99 direct-debit for a two-year renewal. It states the amount will be reflected on my bank statement in the next 48 hours. I called the number listed on the email and was told I needed to download a form to cancel the renewal. I was directed to a website 'Anydesk.com' and it requested that I download some type of software. I did not do it because I thought it was a scam. The person in the phone refused to help me because I would not download the form; then, he hung up. I believe the download was an attempt to invade my computer or perhaps hack the system. Additionally, the people I spoke to continually shifted the 'blame' to me: did anyone in your household request this? Did anyone have access to your computer? etc. Note: no one in my household has Norton anti-virus or Norton software.

I received an email this morning about an annual maintenance contract renewal through "Norton's." They mention that my account through them is set-up for auto-renew and that they will be deducting $449.99 off my account as of July 30, 2021. So I called the (855) area code number they provided for cancelation. I was told that in order for them to cancel my services they needed access to my computer. At this point I lied and said I did not own a computer. First of all the laptop I do have, I only got 2 months ago so how would I be up for an annual renewal. Secondly, I have never set up an account through Norton's. Mind you within the message it states that it's a systems generated email, so if that the case why is it being sent through a personal email address? I hung up on the guy, only to have his "supervisor" call me back from a (509) area code number. I told him the same thing I told the other guy, I have no laptop or computer, and that $449.99 is a rip off for that kind of service being provided. The supervisor said that that amount is wrong it was only $129.99 for the year, I told him well that's not what it states in the email "you all sent me"! Then I asked the supervisor "who do you think your talking to as a "customer," what's the name of the person you are actually trying to bill this to?" Once I asked this question, they hung up on me.

I tried to load Norton anti virus and a message came up that said there was an error and to call 1 800 679 2510. At that time the individual wanted to take remote control of my computer. Showed me a Wikipedia site about scams. I tried to get him to confirm that the person was from Norton and he could not. I ended the call.
