Norton Security/Kaspersky Imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

- Lima, OH, USA

I was scammed yesterday, I know nothing can be done. I think financial damage is minimal.

I am writing to tell you of how I was hooked and the clues I let pass by before realizing I was being scammed and give you the phone number they linked me to.

I received an e mail that Norton has been renewed and charged to my credit card. I do not have Norton, switched to Kaspersky 2 yrs. ago. My Chase card history has Kaspersky billings listed. Received a phone call from a man saying he wanted to help me by removing the Norton and voiding the payment. We spent several hours on the computer and phone using my Kaspersky to go through all files. He generated a list I had to delete. Toward the end of the conversation I was feeling uneasy, taking too long and he asked irrevelent question about my shopping and computer use habits. It was when he said I needed a Google debit card to refund payment that I knew it was suspicious. I said no, I would not do that. He said it was the only way to refund me. And I said no, don't bill be. You have the credit card number you billed.

Blatant clues I missed, overlooked

1. Why would Norton bill me when I did not have the program downloaded and have administrator access?

2. Letter does not contain identification of my specific card or numbers

3. The amount in subject line is $339.99 and in body of letter is $449.00

4. The number he called from repeatedly is 1 888 538 2102

5. He had me log on to Supremo and other software on my phone, which I have deleted. The incoming Supremo connection was 250 087 4310.

6. I immediately logged out, changed vital passwords to bank, amazon, w coil and g mail accounts. Bank froze my account. However, during the time of our conversation I see 1 deposit $250. Into checking from a "remote source" and 2 withdrawals of $250. I will be going to the bank to review accounts and see if other damage has been done.

I realize it is futile to trace, track, and reclaim any money taken. It feels as if I am doing something positive by notifying you and all my friends and acquaintances. I am on limited income and the threat of having a large amount taken for something I did not purchase was disorienting, anxiety arousing. I may have lost some money but I gained wisdom in reading questionable threatening alerts.
