Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I applied for a job at Nordic Naturals on LinkedIn. I was contacted by Joe Braun, Talent Acquisition Specialist, using Ring Central for an interview. I was offered the job by their HR department, Kerri Black, Human Resources Specialist. No references were requested. The Human Resources Specialist emailed from [email protected] which seems like a valid email, but then I received a check for $2,850 that had the remitter as Michael Lewis. I deposited the check in a savings account not connected with our normal accounts. Joe Braun contacted me again through Ring Central telling me that I needed to send $2,000 to a vendor named Cristhyan Herandez who would purchase my laptop and install the software; the remaining amount of $850 I could spend that on a desk and chair. I was supposed to send the $2,000 using Zelle to Cristhyan Hernandez ([email protected]). I asked why the $2,000 had not been sent directly to the vendor; sending it to me was unnecessary. The reply was so that the payout could be on a single check. I have gone to my bank and reported this. They put a 15 business day hold on the check and they figure it will bounce soon. I have done some research on Cristhyan Hernandez and her Facebook page claims she works at an Arby’s in Springville, Utah. While the [email protected] seems like a valid email, the [email protected] sends up red flags and the way they want me to pay the $2,000. No real job would ask me to send a portion of a check written to me to someone else.
