On September 14, I received a call from a scammer pretending to be my grandson. The story he told was plausible involving a car accident, an injury and an arrest. The reason for calling me was he needed $5,000 bail money to free him. He begged & pleaded with me to loan him the money. He wanted me to call his attorney who would instruct me on how to accomplish that. While I love my grandchildren and would do most anything for them, I questioned why he did not call his dad. He said his dad would be angry. He was very convincing but I felt it was out of character for my grandson to get into that predicament & if it were truly him, he should face the music and call his dad. I then said, "How do I know this is not a scam?". At that time I got call interrupt and he must have hung up. He was very covincing to the point that I contacted my grandson who confirmed it was not him. He said he would never have called me if something like that actually happened. Initially, my phone identified the call as "Private Party". I did not erase it & today it is identified as "FRAUD CALL" & it included a number. Too bad it didn't indicate that initially.
