NJ Medicaid Spoof Reports & Reviews (1)

- Quinton, NJ, USA • Feb 02, 2024

I had received several text messages regarding my NJ Medicaid and that I needed to renew before the end of the enrollment period or risk losing coverage for myself and my children. Today, 2/2/2024, I received a message stating that this was the final notice before coverage would ultimately be terminated. Thankfully I called from my office number and explained what I had received through text and asked for help renewing. The man on the phone, who identified himself as Edguardo, advised that the enrollment period had actually passed on 1/31/2024 and now I would need to resubmit an entire application, PAY to submit the application and PAY the first 2 months in advance. I explained that I had gotten the message merely minutes prior to the call and that I have never had to pay for my application or for the service ever before. He insisted that this was a new law under the Biden administration and that I had to pay this money upfront (he never provided an actual monetary amount). My gut was leery, I told him that I would have to call back later after work from my personal line, he was determined to keep me on the phone and even tried to provide me with his personal line. That's when I knew for sure this had to be a scam. I ended the call quickly and searched the number, only to find so many innocent people taken advantage of. I am so thankful that I did not provide any sensitive information or any money.
