While on my laptop an alarm sounded and a message popped up to contact Microsoft immediately. I could not get rid of the message or the alarm. I called the number and was connected to a foreign sounding male. He said he would need to get into my laptop and see what the problem was. Being gullible I allowed this. He said I did not have a virus but something else that had probably come through e-mails and there were 21, 400+ of whatever it was. He also said I had no firewall and I would need to purchase one to keep this from happening again at the cost of $299.99 for 3 yrs. There was also a 5 yr for $499.99. Again being gullible I purchased the 3 yr. He said it could take up to 3 hours to get the work done. I watched on my laptop screen as something was being done. I was called back before the 3 hrs. and was told it was fixed. I received an e-mail receipt for the firewall purchase and there were also 2 e-mails where I "signed" documents for the work done. I also received several phone calls and an e-mail wanting feedback on services provided. I did not respond to these. No problems for awhile then my laptop started to be slow to boot up and finally it would not boot up at all so took to a local computer repair business and they removed some malware. It works fine now.
