Type of a scam Romance
A man name Hong Lee friended me on Instagram and said he was an Army based in Las Vegas. He asked to exchange numbers and began text messaging me consistently. On the third week, he said he was going on a mission to Afghanistan. On the fifth week, he said he was awarded one million dollar and needed to send it to me for safe keeping. My gut instinct told me this could be a scam. He made it seem like it was for real. He gave me this guy name Mr. Nick at Amarex based in Afghanistan phone number and What’s App to send $2,500 for shipping fee because the box weighed 40kg. He didn’t have the $2,500 on hand to ship. Asked that I send money to a Michael Cuddle @ $michaelcuddle60 on Cashapp. It didn’t go through. The app told me transaction canceled to protect me. I knew something was wrong and I called Hong Lee something isn’t right. He insisted that it’s not a scam. He then gave me this email [email protected] to PayPal. He asked for $2,500 but I only had $1000 for he said he will have a friend help with the rest. I asked that he send me back the $1000 for I have to pay rent the same weekend. He then disappeared and all the pictures he sent to me was no where to be accessible.

Type of a scam Government Grant
One of my husbands co-workers started following my Instagram page today. Nothing unusual about that. He then starts messaging me and my husband about an HCFS grant. Says he was awarded $300K, no questions asked. How ridiculously stupid is that? I play along and as soon as I ask what the catch is............ghosted. This person has stolen images from our friend Nick Earls in Colorado and is trying to scam people as him.
