I was sent a large check for a mystery shopper, check was from Nationwide Insurance. I could keep $325 and with the remaining $1600 I was to buy 3 ebay gift cards and to evaluate the store where i bought them. The problem was that there was no identification of this company and i read the exact story form someone else online, that it was a scam.

i received email stating that i have $751.32 check that this company is holding i made numerous calls asking what is this check about,company will not tell me until i supply my signature along with the last 4 numbers of my social security i believe this is a scam i would like it investigated Nationwide acc#0000109*** /oca#3225*** I believe they want to open account fraud in my name!

Received a letter in the mail dated 1.13.16 on Nationwide Insurance letterhead advising me that I was the beneficiary of a $75,000 settlement. The letter advised me to keep the settlement completely confidential. The letter reads in part: "If you attempt to cash this check before speaking to any of our agents the check will be void and all stop payments will be in affect"... The letter was signed by Jonathan Taylor, Clearing Commissioner. The phone number on the letter is 647-380-4825. The enclosed check was for $1,952.80. It also reads that all settlements must be claimed by 1.29.16.
