I was called and was told that my power was being turned off within 1/2 hour if I didn't pay passed due bill. But I could go to family dollar, Cumberland Family to pay $505.95 that was due. I called national grid and they told me that my account was up to date. My suggestion would be to call national grid and check on account first. Didnt pay nothing.

I have received numerous automated messages from this phone number stating that my power was going to be shut off at my location. I’ve ignored the calls for a long period of time, and I’m on a do not call list. Today I decided to call the number back. The number identifies the company as national grid. I spoke to a man that could barely speak English, gave him my name, and stated that I’ve been receiving numerous phone calls he instantly put me on hold and never came back on the line. I hung up called the number back again, and heard an automated message stating all representatives were busy, and to try my call again later. I tried once more from my house phone and receive the same message. I then called them from my cell phone spoke to a representative, and ask for a manager. A manager named Larry came on the line once again I told him my name, and that I’ve been getting a lot of calls instantly I was put on hold again and no one ever came back to the line. I hung up called them again from my son’s cell phone I spoke to representative repeated the same process with the same results. I then google searched the number of national grid, and called their customer service line. I spoke to the woman at the real national grid, and she had stated they had been getting numerous phone calls with the same ordeal, and that it was a scam. I was well aware of the fact it was a scam, but there was no way of telling them to no longer call me or to opt out of calls. BEWARE of this number, and the calls.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! IT’S A SCAM!!!!

We were informed by the caller that due to unpaid electric service bills, we were scheduled for shut-off in 4 hours. The caller identified our account correctly. We were instructed to call National Grid to make payment arrangements in order to avoid the shut-off. We were given the above 800 number, which is an authentic National Grid customer service contact number and is listed on their website. Our bills are on auto-pay, thus we knew something was amiss. After calling the "authentic" contact number and a rather contentious conversation, we hung up. No harm, no foul, I guess you could say. I do want to alert others to this scam, but another reason for this report is the UNACCEPTABLE response we were given by National Grid when we subsequently contacted them. They were absolutely disinterested in the information, even after speaking with a supervisor. Their response was, "We get so many of these. There is nothing we can do about it." My husband and I were employees of Rochester Gas & Electric for 29 years, and we know that is false. Thank you.

Robocall claimed they were National Grid (electric company) and if we did not call back immediately they would turn off our electricity.

SCAM Utility scam- threaten shut off electric unless you pay cash - SCAM

National Grid's legitimate number was somehow used to contact me and they said my bills were 3 months past due and my electric would be turned off today. If I called 7162004348 I could stop the turn off process. I called and the automated answering system sounded legit but when I got a person to report the suspected scam and asked why the number wasn't associated with National Grid on Google he said he didn't know, that's not his job. So I asked him for his office's physical address, and at first he gave me my address. I pressed again for HIS address. Then he swore at me, calling me a vulgar name and hung up.

GUY CALLED FROM "NATIONAL GRID" SAYING I OWE OVER $900 IN BACK ELECTRICAL FEES AND THEY WERE GOING TO CUT MY POWER IF I DIDN'T PAY. HE WANTED MY BANK INFORMATION TO PROCESS THE PAYMENT.

Person called business claiming to be from electric company stating if we didn't install digital box we were going to have power shut off if we didn't pay. They said they had a work order to disconnect if we didn't pay. They spoke professional and said they were the manager. Even connected me to someone in billing to follow thru. Didn't ask for money over phone but gave phoney address to make payment. And then once you get to the location to call them back. Claimed they sent out letters of notice of shut off if didn't install that day. Never went to location but I was asking them more and more questions and told them it sounded like a scam, I didn't receive any of these notices and didn't feel comfortable with what was going on. Told them I couldn't make decision because that is up to the owner. The more I questioned and stated this didn't sound right they then started to repeat themselves. I asked them how long I would have till power would be shut off and they said 10 minutes of the hour notice and they said a technician was on his way and I told them they would have to shut it off then because I can't make that decision. Never gave them any personal information about account numbers or anything. They then connected me to billing again and said they received the money which was false and then they hung up. When they put me on hold there was even elevator music on. It all sounded false from the start but came across professional.
