I have been called many times and told I could qualify for a free back brace through Medicare. I am typically told that I am speaking with the National Chronic Pain Association. Sometimes I ask to be put on a do-not-call list, and other times I ask to confirm the name of the organization, and the person hangs up. I believe this is an instance of the "Medicare Back Brace Scam" found here:

This company calls me all day long from different #'s. They have already told me I dont qualify for their pain relief brace because i dont have medicaid, yet when i ask to be placed on the do not call list they hang up! You cant call the # back....

Talked fast, asked if I had chronic pain. I said yes. He asked where and I said all over from head to toe. I told him I do have a condition that affects my joints. I asked him if he had a website and he said yes. When I told him I will need to write it down on pen and paper, he hung up. In the beginning there was a lady saying do not hang up, this is not a sales call. She also said I have contacted them before and I have not and she said if you're interested press 1. This is a SCAM

Call is initiated with a robo call using a local area code stating that this is not a sales call. It states that the call is because you have inquired about chronic pain. It asks you to select 1 for assistance or another number to be placed on the "Do not Call" list. The "Do not Call" selection does not work because they continue to call from different numbers using the same area code. If you speak to them, they will tell you the corporation is named National Chronic Pain Association and they are in Los Angeles. Then as you continue to ask questions about their corporation, the phone line becomes scrambled. When it was explained that I needed the information to report them to the Attorney General, they hung up. This has been reported to the Florida Office of the Attorney General.
