My IncrediMail froze February 1, 2015. I searched online (IncrediMail Help) and clicked on the first site with toll-free phone #800-283-1648 and called. *** answered stating he was IncrediMail support and could fix my e-mail program if I gave him permission to do it by remote control. I gave permission. He claimed someone had hacked my computer using my IP address, and he found 21 Trojans and over 2000 errors, which he could not fix and a Microsoft technician would be required. I gave my permission for *** *** to resume control of my computer. *** claimed he would need 3 to 4 hours with me not touching the mouse, not using my cell phone, and not using any other computer device such as a laptop or tablet. I agreed. He then said for this service to be completed, he needed my checking account routing and account number. I asked why not a credit card, and he said it had to be my checking account for the fee of $399.99, which would include free downloads and one year of technical support from them, the Live Tech Geek Squad. I agreed. *** claimed after 3 1/2 hours my computer was completely fixed. I then did a search online of their 800 phone number and that number is assigned to *** *** *** *** out of California; it listed their services of which the cheapest was $350 and included an e-mail contact address. I sent them an e-mail with my service # plus date of service and requested the 3-year $350 service with a return of $50 to me. No response to that e-mail. The next morning, I went to my bank and opened a second checking account to transfer most of my money. That afternoon, I added to my first e-mail another message stating I had not heard from them and they were unreliable. Friday, February 6, 2015, the payment cleared my checking account and I made a copy of the canceled check. Monday, February 9, 2015, I called my local computer technician at *** in Morrisville, VT, and he said it was a computer scam. Off to the bank again, an employee filled out paperwork to block *** from debiting more money from my account. If I had stopped payment on that transaction before Friday the 6th, the money would not have left my account. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 Zach from the Geek Squad informed me via phone that they had never received payment for their services. I told him I had proof they did with a copy of the processed check. He insisted it did not get debited; my year's technical service was terminated by them; I was to call my bank to have the $399.99 transferred back into my account and call ***, the Project Manager Merchant, after I dealt with my bank. I did not call my bank and will ignore any more phone calls. My Caller ID indicates it is "Manish Manager" calling from 1-800-283-1648. This 'company' must be stopped from scamming others.
