Type of a scam Online Purchase
On checkout, as usual, they asked for name, address, credit card info. As I submitted the order, they said that to verify, an SMS message will be sent to my phone.
I checked my phone. I got an email from Chase saying "use this one-time activation code to enroll your Chase credit card to your digital wallet"
I typed in the code to the web site. It went through. Then I got an email from chase saying: "You added your Rapid Rewards Plus Card (...7588) account to your Apple PayTM wallet. You can now use it to shop at participating merchants. "
Since I did NOT at any time have to go to apple pay I felt this was not legit and called the Chase credit card. They agreed with me that this was probably a scam, removed the credit card from whatever Apple Pay wallet it was added to. There were no non-legit transactions made from the credit card. But now, since the web site has my credit card info, my name/address and that three-code number on the back of the card, Chase will change all that and send me a new card.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any more clarification. This seems like a way for the site to steal a great deal of $ from someone.
