The site says that I completed an online personality test. I have no memory of such a test, but trying to cancel the monthly charge for something that I don't receive, I have to take a personality test, which puts me back into a monthly subscription that there seems to be no way to cancel.

The company claims that the payment system and promotional services are not the same. Clearly if you pull up the receipts the funds match.

- Chicago, IL, USA • Apr 15, 2026

I authorized a one time payment of $1.99 for a personality test that was advertised. After this, I was charged $47.8 for three consecutive months despite never creating an account or providing my payment information. When I reached out to the company, they could find no record of my account with them or record of the payments that were collected despite me providing proof of these charges on my bank statements. After they pretended to escalate the situation to management in order to help me, they stopped responding completely. I have reached out several times in the last two weeks to inquire about the status of my refund and to be provided assurance that they will remove my information from their database to ensure that I am not charged again moving forward but they will not respond to me. This place is a scam and is charging people without authorization.

I took an online personality test on Facebook. When it asked for payment i closed everything and did not want to pay. Later that night i was charged 27.88 without consent.

Do NOT purchase anything, even any of the so called "one-time payment" tests on this website!! They will take your card information once you purchase a test result making you think you're purchasing something one-time only, and draw money out of your credit card without telling you that you are subscribed to a monthly subscription. No notifications, no emails, nothing. They take $27.88, but on their website for fees on "subscriptions", there's no subscriptions that cost $27.88, which is very suspicious. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE!

I agreed to pay 1.99 for a personality test. I was subsequently charged 27.88 for a subscription that I did t agree to.

I was charged $207.62 via PayPal for a subscription I never agreed to from Character Types LLC (operating mypersonality.net / gyfted.me). My account shows “Free Plan” and offers no option to cancel a paid plan. This appears to be a deceptive “negative option” billing scheme.

Complaint Details

On 2/8/25, I completed an online personality test that was advertised as free or low-cost. My account still shows “Free Plan,” but I have been repeatedly billed by Character Types LLC through PayPal. Their website provides no way to cancel a paid plan because none is shown as active.

I later discovered that others have reported the same issue online, indicating a widespread deceptive practice. Charges total $207.62, and I have never received any goods or services beyond the initial quiz.

This website specifically advertises FREE career and personality quizzes, so you click on it, spend all that time completing the quiz, and then it charges you $1.99 to get results, and it also locks you in for $27.88 monthly after that. They also make you enter your email and check a box giving them consent to share your personal information in order to “see your results,” but then of course it just takes you to the payment screen… on a site that said the quiz results were free. Waste of time, and a scam.

This was a sly charge that was monthly on different days, so I didn't realize I was being charged until this month. It started in February, and the charges were around $40.00 CAD ($27.99 USD). I did the personality test but did not consent to the charge(s). I was checking my statement, saw the charge and was confused. Then I looked more into it. I contacted the company to explain the pricing, as what I was charged did not match the prices on the website. I also asked for a refund for at least the last payment. To which they replied, "This transaction is for "MyPersonality.net". It is an IQ test and brain training games. If you have done an IQ test in the past and failed to cancel it before the 7 days trial then it will turn into an automatic subscription."—not explaining any further and not providing any information on what I had also inquired about, which was why I never got emailed a receipt. If I had been emailed a receipt, I would have been able to resolve this issue before it came to this. For reference, I check my email religiously, including my junk folder. They were also very prompt in replying with a couple of sentences until I asked to speak to a manager. After I asked for that I have not heard back, and this has not been resolved. I worry that others are getting these ghost charges and that they are having to deal with a company that does not care about charging people ghost charges.
