Scammer posed as a Virtual Assistant for a property management company. Using photos from a recently-sold house, they posted a fake craigslist ad with the email address in the ad. When asked about the apartment, the scammer sent a legitimate Trans Union credit bureau affiliate link (one that pays a commission when a victim buys a service through the link). They asked that prospective renters do a credit check for $30 through the affiliate link. I purchased a credit check, and the scammer ceased all contact.

Trans Union was difficult to contact to receive a refund, but after three days did agree to refund my money.
