Type of a scam Moving
I found Joe's business card posted on one of the bulletin boards in my apartment building. I reached out to him to discuss my up coming long distance move. We set a time for him to come in person to access my furniture and the space that I would need on the moving truck. He rescheduled the appointment. We set up another time about a month later and he messaged me the day of saying he would be late or he was really pushing to squeeze my appointment in and I offered to send pictures of the furniture instead. This was not a big deal because I had done this for some other major moving companies like American and United Van Lines. He never acted extremely professional, using acronyms during text messages and he never sent any paperwork related to the move. Eventually, we did receive an email with a customer agreement. The agreement seemed off. There were various instances of misspelled words and improper grammar. This lead me to look into some other red flags that came up while looking over the agreement. He listed a false insurance policy. He says his insurance is through Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company, after contacting them, the policy number provided was inaccurate. I also noticed that his company had several other names along with the one that I was familiar with. I asked about some of these discrepancies and he said that he was rushing and he must have sent an old template of the agreement. I did not hear from him anymore after that. I never saw him in person but I spoke with him over the phone and through test messaging. He took my current address and the address that I am moving to. He has since taken down his website.
