I've give personal identity information under the hopes of employment but was met with suspension from a person claiming to be a recruiter of MVA Beltsville. I received a text message by them first, which stated my name and the job I'd applied for which was a work from home position via ziprecruiter.com. I was interview the next day via google hangouts and after some typical interview questions, I was offer the job. They then stated that before the offer letter along with my home office set can be sent, they would need the follow information (full name, address, number, SSN, and a picture of the front and back of driver's license or state ID). Even though I normally have my guard up, I blindly believe this was a real opportunity so I used the email that was giving which is [email protected] and emailed the information. After that, they stated that Beltsville is partner with ID.me and that I would have to verify my identity through them. I created an ID.me account and than when asked, gave access to said recruiter on the same day of the interview. I received a message stated I verify my identity to be shared with California EDD and when I googled California EDD, I see nothing but scandals/frauds going on. When I question said recruiter on speaking to them either through phone call or video call, they just text that they can't call until I complete my ID.me verification. When I truly start looking into my ID.me account (the privacy section), I seen other locations besides mine such as New York, Atlanta, and California. I still had the text message of if you didn't share your identity with California EDD, Reply N, so I reply N and then Y when asked do you want to cancel account. I just wish I could rewind time before all of this but seeing as how I can't, I just want to make sure my identity stays my identity.
