Mailed me a check for $4950 to purchase apple pro laptop and software purchased and installed as well as a desk and whatever else I need for a home office. I was to keep $200 for myself. I deposited the check as instructed and emailed [email protected]. they responded thank you.

I waited the days my bank had the check on hold and after 7 days they said the check is counterfeit.

This is a scam.

First after receiving information about me being selected to move forward in the hiring process this fake employer proceeded along to handle a "chat-to-chat" interview via text through this app called signal messaging or skype messaging which I found strange from jump. Moving forward they made it a problem that I had a small bank and that I had to open a bank account when I know my bank account works well with direct deposit and even early direct deposit. Furthermore, after further questions they stated they couldn't even send paychecks out as pay either which was another red flag. Then as this process is going on the next morning after communicating and them sending an offer sheet and W2 form which gave me indications of it being legit. However, after all of this sending my information for onboarding which included ID, SSN, Address and Photo of me which was supposed to be for my company ID card. After this happened they further talked about background check which is obvious with any employer, therefore moving along they stated to be working with something called IDme verification with the IRS, which is where it all ended after I realozed it was a scam after doing research and me having errors and the people going ghost after me having issues creating this "IDme + IRS background check". Nonetheless, they have my info.

I was contacted through text by a Miss Kieka Shaw and given an interview link to a Mr. Mike O’Sullivan on Microsoft teams for an interview I was asked some interview questions and given the job. The next morning I was told I had a new hire packet send to me which after some thought did not look legit and I wasn’t even able to sign them. It was just very weird and I did not follow through with them. The only PII that I sent was my name and address. I will not be sending anymore information.
