I responded to a Facebook marketplace ad for a apartment size fridge for 160.00, I went to the business that is being run out of a storage unit. There is no name of company listed anywhere outside of building. I paid to rent a a uphaul truck to pick up fridge. when I get to location I ask the salesman does it work he said "yes". I paid him cash. He tied the fridge into the Uhaul truck. My boyfriend and I then transported fridge to my house only to discover it does not work at all. I had no phone number or name of company due to the man not providing a receipt and the fact that neither one these items are listed on Facebook marketplace. I inboxed on Facebook and asked the salesman could he replace the fridge and have it delivered since I paid 140.00 for Uhaul truck and the fact that all my groceries had then went bad. Plus both my boyfriend and I both missed work to travel to this business and rent a Uhaul and transport a fridge. He said he could not deliver a fridge because his moving truck was down. I then asked could he deliver a replacement fridge once his moving truck is fixed. he ignored my response till like two days later saying oh sorry he has been moving other fridges after allegedly stating that his moving truck was down. He said he would give me a refund. I asked could he venmo my refund or cash app it to me and he said he needs the fridge back. I explained that I do not have a moving truck and that I can not afford to pay another 140.00 for a moving truck after he sold me a faulty fridge. I then asked for the name of his company and phone number he said by law he doesnt have to. I then asked for my receipt he said he doesnt have to to give me one. I then explained that I use to work for the attorney general and I researched and according to law he does have to issue a receipt if the sale was over sixty dollars. He said he will give me a refund if I bring back fridge. That is a financial burden for me and it is bad business. Plus I believe he is operating a fraudalent business and is doing tax evasion by not giving customers their receipt and by refusing to give out the company name or phone number when a customer requests it.
