I'm going to start by using the previous report as a template because it's so similar to my recent experience, and I'll just change the necessary details [my changes are in brackets]:

We received an email from a customer named [Leo Fernandez] claiming to be from [Fenzo Ltd.], located in [Nauru], who was interested in purchasing [several] of our products, totaling [$6,480] USD. The customer requested that we use their shipping carrier instead of our preferred carrier. We found nothing odd about this, as it is normal for international customers to arrange their own freight and delivery. We reached out to the customer's carrier, Montu Logistics, and requested a quote and pick up of the customer's items.

The shipping quote received by Montu [agent's name: Ricardo Besel] was much more [$3,374 USD] than that from our preferred carrier but [Leo] insisted on using his carrier instead.

At this point, Leo requested that we invoice him for the total amount including shipping. I asked him why he would pay so much more for shipping when we could ship the order for only a few hundred dollars. He replied: "Shipping to Nauru is quite expensive. I have used DHL and others in the past and I end up paying more when the items get to the customs in Nauru. I am okay with the cost from Montu logistics. Kindly send me a final invoice."

To which I replied: "I am happy to invoice you for the items in the order, but we are not able to act as a customer of your freight forwarder, who we have no past experience with. If you want to proceed, you will have to pay your freight forwarder directly. We are not willing to collect payment and then remit it to an unknown entity, especially such a large sum. I hope you understand and can arrange to work with them directly."

I have not heard another word from either of them.

The (657) 206-6516 number happens to be the same as the one listed in the prior scam report.

My company was just contacted by these two as well... Leo Fernandez of Ronave, Nauru and Ricardo Besel from Montu. It could be a script for how similar it was...I said the same thing about shipping and he gave the exact same answer. He's been busy this week!

We received an email and website submission from a customer named Bradley Robertson claiming to be from Brad Inc., located in Panama, who was interested in purchasing two of our products, totaling $8,199 USD. The customer requested that we use their shipping carrier instead of our preferred carrier. We found nothing odd about this, as it is normal for international customers to arrange their own freight and delivery. We reached out to the customer carrier, Montu Logistics, and requested a quote and pick up of the customers items. Montu requested that we pre-pay and Bradley asked that we pay the Logistics company directly; Bradley would in turn pay us for the shipping costs.

The shipping quote received by Montu was much more than that from our preferred carrier but Bradley instisted on usin his carrier instead. Several different emails where used including the following: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

We did end up receiving a payment from Bradley but refunded it once we realized this was a scam. We did lose $337.57 in processing fees.

I just want to thank you for submitting this report, and I'm so sorry you lost out on the processing fees. Your experience helped prevent the same exact thing from happening to me, and it strengthened my intuition that this was a scam. I owe you a beer someday.
