Interested in cat… until I tried to do face to face

I saw the beautiful kittens online, and let them know there were a couple I was interested in. I knew it was inexpensive for a Maine c o o n kitten, but assumed because of Covid and everything else, things were cheaper.
Once they told me they were in Charlotte, I told them I had a niece and nephew that wanted to come see them. After that, they stopped responding to me at all.

I contacted this website to purchase a Main C o o n cat. The woman was very nice, and sent me pictures of the kitten, and a video. Because I live a distance away, we were going to have a pet transport company transport the kitten. I didn't think anything of this, as I have bought animals from the web before. And because of my previous GOOD experience with a different company, I didn't ask for a FaceTime call, or any other information. I sent her the payment through Zelle, and waited to hear that she had secured transportation. She let me know the next morning that the transportation company would be contacting me. They did. They said they would be picking up the kitten, and contacting me with the arrangements. About 2 hours later, I got a second email from them. It stated that the carrier for the kitten needs to be bigger, and have electronic thermal something. (my words). Made sense to me, because I live in Florida - its hot. This was going to be an added refundable charge of between $800-$1300. I paid the money, for the health of the kitten, and contacted the breeder. The next email I got, The kitten had made it to the connecting flight, and needed insurance. The shipping company now wanted $1500. At this point, I contacted the breeder again. She told me, she has used this shipper before, and to pay the money. I did NOT pay that money. I'm now being harassed by the shipping company for monies, well over the original cost of the cat! Apparently, to me... There was never a cat in the first place. under closer scrutiny by myself and my husband, this website of a breeder that is supposedly located in North Carolina, has a website that is registered in the Netherlands. Buyer Beware! Get Real time face time videos.
