I had begun a sale on Ebay of a collection of my old Disney dvd's that I had not watched anymore. This scammer contacted me first through Ebay saying they will buy these from me. So I started the transaction with him through Paypal, but after I gave him my information, he said he is a US Marine and he couldn't go out to do this, he asked me to include a $300 ebay gift card in the shipment and that he would pay me for the inconvenience. So I thought, ok the money will be in my account and I could just go ahead and buy the gift card, NOPE, paypal said that for the safety of the buyer and myself the seller, they put the payment on hold until they had proof that I had purchased the gift card. I did not have the financials to do this, so I contacted paypal and told them to cancel and refund the buyer his money back, their response was that the money could only come to me and could not be refunded back to the buyer's account. It doesn't make sense that the buyer would ask me to buy him something that was way out side of what the original sale was for. I didn't trust it, so I ended my conversation with him and it is now in the hands of paypal to take care of this.
