Same thing happened to me. Had a woman named Lindsey Rivera text me to make a Microsoft Team's account to speak to this guy who did the very same thing as the top article, but I found this and blocked him right away. Thanks for putting this up there.

All he got was my Name, phone number, address and email address. He asked for my bank account number to deposit a check for $3910.00 to buy a computer and other items to do the job. The address on the envelope was in Arizona and the bank was JPMORGAN Chase in Michigan. The bank account was Belfor restoration also in Michigan. The bank said that it was a scam.

The company that this job supposedly with was Mono Engineering out of Switzerland. He only communicated to me via Teams. I only heard his voice for a moment, he spoke clear English with an accent that I'm not familiar with. He preferred typing.

I was suspicious from the start. When I sent him a message that I was declining the job, and destroying the check. He didn't like it and asked me why. I told him that it was a scam. He denied it even when I told him that I had called the bank and was told that it was a scam. He didn't want to give up on convincing me that it wasn't, I had to block him.
