The scammer did send a me great quote including material ($8600) and labor ($4800)
The scammer requested all the material money at front! I did not agree with that because it was our first job, then we agreed to send him the material money in increments as the job is progressing.
The scammer told me that he will only get the labor money after the job is complete.
At first, I transferred him $2,000 through Cash App on 7/7, then he went to some lumber supply store and I paid by credit card by phone.
I consider myself a smart person and I would never see me in this situation, look now! I can't believe he got me!
After that, the scammer requested more money to buy cabinets and other material in cash because he saw a private person selling these material on Facebook.
I had local realtor that was helping me keeping track of the job, but the scammer always pressured me for more money because he could not lose this " big deal on Facebook", then I sent him more money.
My realtor went to the house and never saw any material (hot water tank, doors, floors, cabinets, bathroom material, etc), and when I asked the scammer where the material was, he always came up with a excuse like "they will delivery tomorrow or my truck is at the shop and after I get my truck I will pick the material"
When the scammer used these excuses, he was gain more time to get more money from me, until I said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
He got from me more than $10k and stop working in the house.
the scammer did remove all the kitchen cabinets (it was in fair condition) removed all my bathroom, also in fair condition. He only did paint two bedrooms to show me some work and get more money from me.
After many phone calls and text messages, the scammer did not want to bring my material, and gave up on my job!
I had to change the locks to prevent him to get inside my property and I called the Newport Police Department and explained all what happened.
I had called his Insurance (I had his Certificate of Liability Insurance Policy) to open a claim to see if I can get my money or my material back.
The scammer still calling me and the realtor treating us to get inside the house, claiming "his tools" is inside the house. The only tools are inside my house are the tools he bought with my money. I believe he has done this before with other people because he knows exactly what to say to people to send him more money.
