I was searching in the area for a dog to adopt and found this website miniwienerhome.com that had pictures and testimonials from previous buyers. I filled out their form that asked for my email and phone number to be reached out to. This morning I got an email with some grammar mistakes from the website but no one introduced themselves or signed the email. Questions asked about what vet we used, about our current or previous pets, etc. I answered their questions and asked if there was anyone I could speak to one on one or do a phone call. My email was ignored and instead they told me I could have the dog and requested a cash app payment. This is where I stopped emailing them, I am aware scammers often work through Cash App and it was odd noone would get on the phone with me. After digging in Dachshund groups on facebook I saw a woman previously fell for the same scam with the same exact dog months earlier when I was told the dog was a few weeks old.

I found this website offering puppies…they were asking $600 + $200 for shipping. After sending the $800 and being told that my puppy was on the way, I get an unexpected email asking for a further $1550 for a “crate deposit”…foolishly, I paid this…5 hours later, another email asking for a further $1100 for an “insurance deposit” I did not send any more money. The puppy never arrived.

I searched online for a puppy and found their website - https://www.miniwienterhome.com. I submitted a form online to inquire about a puppy. They then contacted me via both email from [email protected] and text from (571)210-2202. They asked some general questions about me and I them. We agreed on a deal for me to purchase "Toby". I sent my first payment via Venmo to Michael John Chavez (@mjchavz1, last 4 digits of this phone number 1640) of $350.00 on June 16, 2023. I signed a contract and emailed the contract to them on this same day. The agreement was for me to send the remainder of $450 prior to their shipping "Toby" to me on June 22, 2023. When requesting the remaining payment, they asked that be sent to Venmo account @clintonliner223s with the last four digits of that phone number 9552. For some reason my payment did not go through. It was not with my bank. My Venmo account became suspended (and is currenlty, i have filed a claim with them but have heard nothing as of yet.) They then asked me to send via PayPal to [email protected], John Nyachae. My PayPal was also being refused for some reason. After contacting PayPal, they did not see an obvious reason and suggested the seller send a pay request to me. I received a pay request fro Annet Toman, toman3788. My payment went through for $468.34 - the remaining $450 fee for "Toby" and an $18.34 fee. This payment was made on June 22, 2023. I received a text with tracking information for "Toby" - https://www.airfaxetransport.com with tracking item 991203763421198. I was only able to access that website from Firefox without VPN activated on my computer. It said "pending" and expected delivery was June 23 at 3:00 pm. On Friday June 23, i was not seeing any update on the shipping. i contacted the seller who seemed surprised and contacted the shipper stating they have tried to contact me. I had no email, text or phone call. After checking my junk mail folder, i discovered they had emailed and they needed $1550 refundable fee from me before they could deliver the puppy. They stated this fee would be refunded once i returned the crate the dog was shipped in implying they needed to leave the crate with me because the dog should remain in the crate for 3-5 hours. I immediately contacted the seller. She seemed surprised by this too and said she would contact. After about two hours i contacted her again and was told she got nowhere, i needed to submit the payment. I asked if she could see where the puppy was and she said no. I called the number listed for the shipping company 678-561-7391. The person answered "hello" with no identifiers such as the name of the company or his name. He had an accent and just kept telling me to send the money, I would get it back once I returned the temperature controlled crate the puppy was in. I asked him where the puppy was currently located and he could only say "in transit". I told him i was not aware of this fee nor was the sender. I asked for a manager and was told there was no one to email. I have emailed twice and have not received a response. I very much feel they are part of this scam. The attached document is the signed contract between me and the seller and the original email received. Here we are on June 24 and still no response from the shipper - Air Fax Transport. Their website has no privacy policy listed, no security certificate and while it looks like you can find them on twitter, facebook and instagram, those links are just the generic links and not connected to any business.
