I made an online purchase for a teacup pomeranian and was sent an email confirmation of my order details and about 5 mins later I was texted by "Vanessa" that she had received my order and if I would like to proceed with the $1000 deposit to secure the puppy and schedule its dr. appt to get vet checked. She stated in the text (and it was also stated in the email confirmation) to proceed with sending the deposit via Zelle, and I texted her back stated that I would prefer to use Cashapp since my bank has issues with Zelle payments and I also mentioned that the website and email confirmation identified CashApp as another payment method. She then text back and said Cashpp was fine and asked me what my Cashapp name was, which I provided. I immediately received a request from Cashapp asking for the 1k deposit to which I paid. She text me back stating that she received the deposit and would proceed with the vet appt and that "Shawn" would be contacting me to go over over my order and provide info regarding the ownership change process. Shawn did not contact me. The next day, I received another Cashapp request for the remainder of the balance, which was $880. I text the number and asked why was I being asked to pay the remainder balance when I had not received any details about my order. "Vanessa" then replied back that "Shawn" needs a confirmation of complete payment to get the ownership transfer certificate completed before being able to schedule the puppies' delivery. She also stated that they dropped the puppy off at the vet and were in the process of making the shipping arrangements. Sounded to legit to me to I sent the 880 payment via CashApp. I received another text stating that my balance had been received and that "Shawn" would be contacting me with the documentation to sign. Haven't heard anything since. The 1k was paid on 8/17/23, the 880 was paid on 8/18/23. I text on 8/21/23 and received no reply. I text again on 8/22/23 with no reply. I called the number on their website on 8/23/23 as well as the number that text me and both numbers went unanswered with a busy signal after about 6 rings. I realized that I was scammed and reported this to Cashapp and I am now reporting this to you.
