Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

I received a phone call stating that my son has been in a serious accident involving him hitting a young man on a motorcycle. The young man on the motor cycle was in serious condition. I ask the caller who he was and he state he was Michael White from some agency ( I could not understand what he stated he has a Spanish accent that made it hard for me to understand what was said). The caller stated that my son was there with them and they had taken his phone because the father and the injured boy both has warrants out on them. However the father wanted to speak with me. But before I was able to speak to the father I had to identify my son. I told him my name and verbally identified my sons name. The caller stated that yes it is my son that they have. He went on to say that they have taken his phone because the father did not want to call the police. Then he state that my son was fine and asked if I want to speak to the father. I stated that I did. The father came on the line and said. I don not want to call the police because my son and I have warrants and I need to take my son to see a (the f word) private doctor. I am willing to pay $1500.00 how much can you pay. I immediately hug up the phone and called my son. They called back but I would not answer my phone. My son answer his phone and stated that he was fine and not in an accident at all he was on his way home. I though it would be a good ideal to let someone know in case someone else was faced with this same situation.
