I am a nurse practitioner in Texas. 10 years ago I was licensed in Louisiana. The caller called my place of business stating he was from the Louisiana Board of Nursing and it was urgent that he talk to me. The front desk transferred the call to me thinking he was legitimate. He said a complaint had been filed against my Louisiana license ( which has been expired for 10 years) and he was the chief investigator. He said that $876,000 of narcotics had been found at the border prescribed by me and the FBI believed I was responsible. Also that I was going to be charged with money laundering. Then he told me the FBI had given him the authority to suspend my Texas license. That was when I became suspicious He had already gotten my cell number from me, saying my work phone was not a secure line and had called me back on my cell phone. I told him I was not sure he was legitimate. He then told me he would report everything to the Texas Board of Nursing and my license would immediately be suspended. I told him to go ahead. A few minutes later I got a call from somebody claiming to be from the Texas Board of Nursing, saying he was calling about a complaint against my Texas license. He overheard me talking with my supervisor and hung up.
