A scammer tried hiring me for a fake event. Wanted to send payment by electronic check. I said to use credit card. Even said he could just pay me at the event. The scam is they send you a bigger check and then ask you to forward the difference to another vendor like a DJ or caterer for the event. You deposit the check and send money and then find out the check is worthless. Anyway I insisted on the credit card transaction and he responded we can't do business. I texted him back saying his info is being forwarded to the FBI. Then i blocked him (phone/text). Almost right away, i was suddenly subscribed to ALL email notifications from about 50 Texas state and municipal agencies. He had my email address.
