I originally looked for repairs to my Miele fridge, and booked an appointment through what I thought was the miele website, https://www.mieleservice.co/. Shortly after booking an appointment, I recieved two calls from 718-218-5114 and 718-306-9116. They dispatched someone to do an "intial assesment" from Wilshire-Refrigeration the next day. It was just some guy with a backpack. I was told the repair would cost $1080 and had to pay half as a deposit via check. He was scheduled to come the next day, He did not, I called, they said he was scheduled for the next day, which the intial repair guy did say maybe the day after next. Today, I called and when they moved the appointment until later, I checked the website and realized it was fake and that Wilshire-Refrigeration is impersonating a california company by the same name. The number on the purported invoce is (800) 680-8623. When I called the number that first dispatched the repair, they claimed to be Miele outright, and that the deposit would be nonrefundable. After cancelling the appointment, I got a flurry of calls from those and similar numbers, including texts from (323) 207-0557, and 323-213-9241, asking me to reschedule, and an email from [email protected] attaching a purported (but riddled with errors) "proof of authorization" from Miele - which directed to the incorrect email addresses. In any event, when I realized the scam I put a stop payment order on the check and have since moved all funds from that account.
