I received a telephone call on my home phone in Pinellas County that said that my Microsoft computer has a serious hack and if I did not correct it NOW - our computer will be accessed by hackers who will steal my personal information. My phone indicates the call is generated from a Darius Cowan at 614 446 0730. The person on the phone has an Indian accent and guides me though how to view my "event viewer" which shows critical accesses to my personal computer. Before I let the caller proceed - I tell him that my phone is going to die and that I will call him back once I get it on a charging station. He tells me that I must call him back in 25 minutes or my computer will be infected by hackers who will get my personal information - he gives me the call back number of 877-571-9972 ( this number is linked to Midlantic Serviced Group - trenton NJ). I hung up. I contacted Microsoft who advised that this is a scam and they would never initiate a call like this.
