Initially, a woman came to the door saying that she was from a public advocacy group that helps residents make claims to insurance companies for damage done by storms. When asked how they make money she stated that they add their fee to the insurance claim. At no point did she say that she represented a general contractor that completes home repairs. When asked if they were licensed by the town, she said yes. When asked if they were bonded & insured, she stated that the gentleman that would be coming over to inspect the roof would have all that paper work. A call to the town showed that the town had no filings for the company to complete work in our town.

A gentleman did show up and was talking about the bad storms(?) from May that we experienced. He then pointed out some dark spots on the shingles, which he took pictures of, and said that the black spots represent hail damage and if not taken care of it will allow water in. When asked for documentation of bonding and insurance before he went up on the roof, he stated he was covered but did not have the papers with him. He gave a business card and said a neighbor east of us is having them do work.

A lot of this sounds suspicious and am concerned that there is an insurance scam involved here some where. He did give a buisiness card of Samuel Paredes, which has the ScamPulse.com logo on both the front and back. The card even states a ScamPulse.com Rating of A+, when apparently they are NOT a member of the BBB. In the least, this for profit company is using tactics that make it appear that we are receiving help from a consumer advocacy group.
