I was on Facebook, on my computer and clicked on "messenger". My screen went blank and said I was locked out of my computer. A black box was at the top of the screen saying to call Microsoft Windows Support at 1-888-809-9518. I called the number and reached a man who gave me his name as Victor ****** and his MWS Employee number. He told me my networks were being hacked and my phone lines were hacked as well. He said personal information had been compromised. There was an illegal visit to a porn site and child porn had been downloaded and purchased using my information. He then told me he would put me through to the FCC and to tell them "I am facing an identity theft case. There are hackers accessing my information for criminal activities. I want to register a complaint against these hackers. I want our (my son who lives with me was supposedly involved too) names to be cleared from this case." He then gave me what he said was the FCC case number. He sounded so official and legitimate. He then transferred the call to an Andrew Ferguson supposedly with the FCC. This man asked for personal information including the last four digits of our SSNs and our approximate bank balances. At some point he let me go and called my son on his cellphone. I got suspicious and called the FCC to see if the case number given was legitimate. When I began to tell the lady with the FCC what had happened, she immediately told me it was a scam. I told my son to hang up it was a scam and he did. * Note I put my alternate email address as the scammers email address because the system wouldn't let me continue when I typed "None" in that field.
