Microsoft Windows Support / Impostor Reports & Reviews (1)

I was searching online and my computer displayed a fake blue-screen error. The image was full screen, making the error appear as though it’s coming from Windows instead of the webpage. It disabled Task Manager and played an audio messages. The computer was frozen and I was convinced to contact Microsoft Windows support. The tech support sounded legitimate and said that a virus infected my computer. Microsoft employee Kevin Ambrose (employee ID MSD25270) asked me to install an application that gave him remote access to my laptop. He said his direct phone number was 301-966-0517. He ran a scan and told me that scammers in Russia hacked my computer, hacked my network, conducted illegal activities on my IP address, and my telephone unsecured. He said that the FBI would be investigating. He directed me to call my my bank to report fraud. I called Chase Bank and heard the usual phone tree, entered my debit card info, and selected option to speak with fraud. Chase online Fraud Department employees Jack Marshall and James Franklin convinced me that my checking account was already compromised. $1500 was already transferring to Russia. He said I could prevent it with a duplicate charge if I went to my local branch and withdrew cash. He said I should not disclose anything to teller because local branch was under investigation for fraud. He said his direct phone number was 418-431-0929. After I withdrew the cash Jack Marshall asked me to purchase gift cards and I told him no and disconnected the call. Afterwards I called Chase from a different phone and cancelled my debit card after confirming that Jack Marshall and James Franklin weren’t bank employees.
