I got a pop-up saying my IP address had been hacked from Microsoft Windows Defender. It told me to call Microsoft at 1-866-948-2130 to have computer unlocked. I realized it was a scam after they remotely accessed my computer and told me they were calling my bank on a 3

way call. When an Indian man started talking about my personal banking I knew my bank did not outsource to India. I hung up and the guy who accessed my computer kept calling me from 425-222-1961. I immediately got in touch with Microsoft and they helped clean my computer. I changed all my passwords and canceled all my credit and debit cards.UGH! It looked legit.

I received an email stating that my firewall protection was about to expire. I couldn't recall whether I had purchased a firewall or not. However, I permitted access to my account in order to stop the $399 they were going to charge for the transaction. Instead, once I entered the $399 for reimbursement I mistakenly entered $3,999.00. After entering the incorrect amount I was told to purchase Apple Credit Cards to reimburse them the overage. I was told to stay on the phone with him until the transaction was made. The purchase of the gift cards were not made. After discovering that this might be a scam I returned to my bank, allowed him to read the email and check my accounts. The scammer had transferred money from my one account to another. He reportedly used a Chase Bank Account, which was not the case. I called the scammer while at the bank and informed him that I was stopped by security to be questioned about the Gift cards.
